Part Finale of the MN Trilogy

Day 4:

Hanna's Birthday! (May 29th) The big birthday! She wakes up, she KNOWS it's her birthday! So we go upstairs and she tells Uncle Bob, "Uncle Bob, it's my birthday! I am FOUR now!!!" He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a brand new, very shiny and perfect, GOLD dollar and hands it to her. He tells her it's very special and she gets a look of awe that goes beyond her 4 years, and she runs up and hugs his legs, "Thank you, thank you Uncle Bob!" What a way to start a very special Minnesota birthday!
After everyone was up, we went to breakfast where Uncle Jason tells the waitress it's Hanna's birthday and they bring her chocolate cake for breakfast!

After that, we went to a beautiful sculpture garden where they have a putt-putt course. It was a warm, sunny day- gorgeous! Hanna quite enjoyed the golf, though Ben was bored quickly and decided exploring was a better option for a two-year-old-boy!

At the end of the course there was a goat corral and we said Hello to the MinnesotanGoats... (it's funny if you say it out loud with a Minnesotan lilt!) After that it was time for lunch and naps all around!

In the evening, we decided to go to the Mall of America- a long drive in rush-hour traffic! Once we got there we walked around a bit, had dinner at Famous Dave's and headed to the Nickelodeon Universe to ride rides and finish off a VERY LONG and LATE day (with some crying from very sleepy, over-exhausted kids...).

On the way home, we stopped and got some corn dogs for the babies and a frozen custard for me :-) I kid you not, there was a parking lot for drive-thru patrons to wait, with their order numbers for the food to be delivered to the car by a server.. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of drive-thru? In any case, we made it home and to bed after a very very long Birthday Day. :-)

Day 5:
We opted for peace and simplicity on our final day in Minnesota. We played outside in the gorgeous yard, jumped on the trampoline, took a beautiful drive through the Minnesota countryside to a little farm-town burger grill/bar. It was delicious! Then home for naps and to pack up the car. We got to the airport, with Selena and Jason, and EARLY even! Ate some dinner, shopped a bit.. And got on the plane and flew home... We didn't get home until very late, but the kids were really amazing about it and the trip felt like a total success!

We had our adventures, and made memories I hope to at least TRY to remember.. :-) It was a fantastic vacation, and one of the best we've ever taken! (Though, I can't be sure of that because I suffer from a serious case of CRS.) -)
